Circulaire economie
Onze economie vaart stilaan een nieuwe koers. Zij laat het lineaire “grondstof->product->afval”- systeem geleidelijk aan achter voor een duurzamer alternatief. Dit heet een circulaire economie (of kringloopeconomie), waarbij het maximaal hergebruiken van producten en grondstoffen aan de hand van duurzame energiebronnen centraal staat. Deze transitie is noodzakelijk voor de leefbaarheid van onze aarde als je eraan denkt dat dagelijks zo’n 8 miljoen afval in de zee verdwijnt.
In dit kader heeft de Europese Commissie op 2 december 2015 een nieuw pakket voor de circulaire economie goedgekeurd ter stimulering van de overgang naar een circulaire economie in Europa. Hierdoor worden duurzame economische groei, het mondiale concurrentievermogen, en nieuwe werkgelegenheid gestimuleerd en versterkt.
