Maritieme zaken en visserij

Wist je dat de visserijsector van de EU de op drie na grootste ter wereld is? De sector zorgt voor meer dan 350 000 banen. Om de visserij vanuit milieuoverwegingen en uit economisch perspectief duurzaam te houden, werd in januari 2014 een nieuw Europees visserijbeleid (CFP) ingevoerd. Het Europees Fonds voor Maritieme Zaken en Visserij dient als hulpinstrument bij de uitvoering van dit nieuwe beleid.

Maritieme zaken en visserij

Het Directoraat-Generaal Maritieme zaken en Visserij (MARE) staat in voor het EU-beleid op het gebied van maritieme zaken en visserij. Dit DG wordt geleid door Europees Commissaris voor Milieu, Maritieme Zaken en Visserij, Karmenu Vella (Malta).

In het Europees Parlement wordt het thema maritieme zaken en visserij besproken in de Commissie Visserij (PECH).

De Raad Landbouw en Visserij (AGRIFISH) neemt wetgeving op het gebied van voedselproductie, plattelandsontwikkeling en visserijbeheer aan.
