AI for industry and society: trust and frugality
French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and French National Institute for Research in Digital Science and Technology (INRIA) organise a conference "AI for industry and society: trust and frugality" in the framework of the French Presidency of the Council of the EU.
The large-scale deployment of AI has highlighted the importance of strategic positioning of Europe anchored on its values, particularly in terms of ethics, trust and regulation. Its emergence, beyond consumer services, in the market of everyday objects and industrial systems underlines the essential challenge of building answers for the safe and secure development of all AI-based systems, including the most critical ones. At the same time, the awareness of the impact of digital technology in terms of energy and use of material resources requires a reflection on the development of more frugal approaches.
The challenge is to develop theoretical frameworks, methods, tools and hardware components that enable end-to-end data, algorithms and electronic systems to be trusted and that ensure a frugal approach to production and use. This requires the development of bridges between the most advanced AI research and its integration into operational solutions for industry that guarantee compliance with European societal requirements. For this, networking research and capitalizing on results within open platforms are two major key areas for building the future of AI development and deployment.
This event will aim to present the vision of the European Commission and France around these issues. It will highlight the European and national actions already initiated for the networking of research and the constitution of open platforms for the capitalization of resources necessary for the development and industrial deployment of trustworthy and sustainable AI for the benefit of citizens.
Participation is possible in person or through an online broadcast.
