Jämtlands County Council (Zweden) zoekt partners voor een Interreg IVC project rond mentale gezondheid.
"Brobygget" (Building bridges)
Psychological illness is one of the greatest health problems in Europe. More then every forth (4:th) adult citizen is every year struck by some kind of psychological illness. 58000 Europeans deceases every year because of suicide and around ten times as many are treated in hospital in relation to suicidal attempts.
At a European minister conference about psychological health, arranged by WHO 2005 in Helsinki, a frame was taken for assembling efforts concerning the psychological health for the European citizens. The European commission was challenged to participate in this work and "the green book", witch is a first step in this, aims to get a clasping EU - strategy.
From the Social Welfare Agencys's evaluation of the investment in psychiatric and social service for people with psychological illness and disabilities that was made during 2005 and 2006 the following sentences was gotten. Meaningful occupation and rehabilitation to work have been one of the biggest challenges for the society when it comes to investments for people with psychological disabilities. The demands on the labour market has changed in such direction that these people have gotten smaller and smaller possibilities to make a living on their own work.
The project is based on education, personalized development plans, a large range of development efforts and helping people with psychological illness and disabilities to work or studies. For the participating person it's about taking responsibility for their own development. Their own competence and knowledge is the greatest guarantor for security and influence.
It's also about the freedom to be able to run your own life, to develop and hopefully manage to return to the working life. To identify and show the driving force in combination with finding lots of different types of support is the main purpose of the project. One of the sources to success is that the project is both individual and motivational concentrated.
The working method relies on trust, everyone involved have to believe that every person has the possibility and ability to take control over their own life. Empowerment, were every person becomes a carrier of the power and ability to change his or her own life.
"Brobygget" shall become a meeting place that gives people the possibility to grow on their own conditions. We shall give people the possibility to change their powerlessness in to everyday power in process with other people. We shall through our work increase the possibility for individuals and groups to use their knowledge based on their own experience.
We assume that every person learns through out their hole life. We see every person as important and responsible. Voluntariness, equality and mutuality is the ground for our work.
