Grants for actions to promote regarding postgraduate training in conference interpreting (deadline: 8/5/09)
As an inter-institutional service provider, the objective of the DG for Interpretation is to ensure that a sufficient number of qualified conference interpreters are available to enable the European Community institutions to function properly.
Within the general context of the European Union objectives, the main objectives are:
- promoting quality and linguistic diversity in the teaching of interpreting in the official languages of the EU, including the less widely used languages, the languages of the candidate countries (Croatia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Turkey) and the languages of non-EU countries, where justified by current or future needs;
- promoting the establishment of post-graduate centres of excellence;
- encouraging cooperation among universities from different countries and
- supporting innovative pilot projects.
To be eligible for a grant, the universities or institutes in question must be legally constituted and be approved by their national authorities as public or private bodies charged with a public task of teaching and organising courses at professional and post-graduate level in the field of conference interpreting.
Applications must be submitted in accordance with the general principles and within the deadlines specified in the call for proposals and on the application form. The applications must be complete, signed and dated.
An original complete set of the completed and signed application form 2009-2010 and their annexes should be sent by registered mail or special delivery service by 8 May 2009 (as per postmark) at the latest to each of the addresses indicated on the application form.
