WAT?
The ESDN Conference 2010 is hosted by the incoming Belgian EU Presidency and will take place in Ghent on 4-6 July 2010. The conference aims to reflect on linking economic growth and sustainable development. More specifically, the conference will further elaborate the results of the 5th ESDN Workshop (to be held in Madrid on 25-26 March 2010). The conference participants will be encouraged to jointly develop bits and pieces for a “tool box” on how to move towards an economy compatible with SD principles. Additionally, a strategic positioning towards the “Europe 2020” strategy, OECD’s Green Growth Strategy and the Rio +20 conference will be sought. The conference will comprise three sessions:
1.Linking economic growth and sustainable development: Clarifying concepts and approaches
2.From green growth towards an economy compatible with SD principles: developing a tool box in parallel working groups
3.Draft tool box and strategic positioning
After the conference, the ESDN Steering Group will summarize the debate and compile the content of the “tool box” on how to move towards an economy compatible with SD principles.
Registration to the conference is open to ESDN members and associated partners as well as to members of invited networks.
