WAT?
The low carbon agenda has the potential to shift how we view competitive advantage and many European regions and localities are already reviewing their strategies. Kent County Council has just published its first “Low Carbon Opportunities for Growth” strategy, which identifies opportunities for all sizes of businesses across a range of sectors. To secure the economic transition, especially for SME community, ensure long term skill needs are in place, and build low carbon market knowledge, it is vital for Kent to set the right intervention.
Improving local competitiveness needs all of us to work together across sectors and borders; it is not just a local issue. Indeed, Kent County Council and Business Support Kent, the Low Carbon specialist support agency in Kent are already doing just this: Co-operating with European partners on initiatives in environmental innovation, green skills, and resource efficiency.
