One of the key tasks in the early 21st century is to reconcile the need to reduce the levels of energy and environmental resources and transport services we consume, while at the same time improving the quality of life for all in the context of an ageing society. A social platform on "sustainable lifestyle" will be supported to define a research agenda in the area driven by societal concerns. Directorate-general for Research organises an Information Day in Brussels for interested researchers, research institutions, NGOs and civil society organisations, companies, SMEs, public administrations, etc.
The aim of this information event is to provide information on the topic of the call, on the (still new) instrument "social platform" and to allow potential proposers or participants to share project ideas or to present their specific competence for the creation of project partnerships. The Socio-Economic Sciences and the Humanities Research Programme and its 2010 Work Programme, in the framework of the 7th Research Programme of the European Commission will be presented.
